The Diocesan Gospel of Life Committee has under consideration an adults only (no minors) trip to the 2019 March for Life in Washington DC. The 2019 March will occur on Friday, January 18, 2019. Travel would be by bus, leaving from the rear parking lot of St. Stephen Cathedral Church at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 and returning on either the late evening of January 19, or early morning hours of January 20, 2019. The group would spend two nights (January 17 and 18, 2019) at the Renaissance Washington DC Downtown Hotel. (The 2018 room rate was $230.75 per night and may likely increase for 2019. Rooms can accommodate up to four persons so as to split the individual’s cost of staying for two nights.) The estimated cost to attend this event is $395 per person, based on two to three people sharing each room cost. The Committee welcomes your interest in joining this group. To preregister, please complete an information sheet (Available on the bookcase in the Gathering Space) and mail it to Richard Murphy, 600 Locust St., Owensboro, KY, 42301, along with a $50 preregistration fee. Registration was due by September 14, 2018. Note: There is a 40 person minimum threshold for those going on this trip. If this threshold is not reached, the trip will not go forward, and those that have preregistered will receive their $50 deposit back.

Many people have encountered Jesus during Koinonia retreats in parishes throughout the Diocese of Owensboro. The Diocese of Springfield, Illinois has developed a Koinonia specifically for those who are divorced and\or separated. Several members of the Owensboro Koinonia community are collaborating with Springfield Koinonia to bring DASK to our Diocese for the first time. DASK will be held at Mount St. Joseph Retreat Center April 5-7th, 2019. This will be an overnight retreat. Registration information will be released at a later date. For now, please pray for the retreat as plans develop and save the date if you plan to attend. If you are involved in your parish Koinonia community and would like to serve on the team for DASK, please contact Danny May at (270) 852-8336
